We took over the business in 2003 and commenced to change it's overall focus and client base. We kept the "convenience store" side of the business running steadily, maintaining solid returns on "the staples", basic grocery lines, bread, milk, papers/mags,cigarettes etc.
However, we have developed the business on two excellent earning fronts. The store is now the sole licensee for a national Fried Chicken franchise. This arm of the business is less than 9 months old but has seen a huge difference to "the bottom line" and is only set to continue rapid growth. Radio advertising has proven succesful and with more ads the business will continue to gain marketplace recognition.
We have also incorporated many "$2:00 Shop" lines which are sourced from Melbourne-based warehouses. This addition to the existing business has also seen a large increase in our weekly turnover.
In other words, the hard work has been done and an astute couple/family can reap further rewards.
Why sell? We are "getting on" and one of us (husband) is newly disabled, so I find the physical demands too much these days - time to take it easy.

You often hear people say "reluctant sale" and you have to ask....why do it then? In our case it is a very regretful sale.
